Competence By Design (CBD): A Coaching Approach to Feedback Workshop
Looking to support faculty to use a coach approach when giving feedback to residents? We have a workshop for that! Deliver it in your program using our presentation slide deck or reach out and we will send facilitators to you.
This workshop is designed for faculty teaching learners who are already familiar with the basic concepts of Competence by Design, including EPAs and Competence Committees. It is designed to be delivered in 1.5 hours and includes prompts for facilitators to customize areas of the presentation based on their program’s needs and experience.

Faculty can receive MOC credits for attending a program-led session based on the “CBD: A Coaching Approach to Feedback” slides. Attendees are required to fill out the completion certificate survey and an evaluation survey linked here.
Presentation content may be adjusted and personalized to programs as needed. However, for the purpose of MOC accreditation credits, presenters cannot modify the title or objectives within the presentation.

Competence by Design (CBD): Resident Training & Assessment Online Module
This module introduces British Columbia’s clinical teachers to Competence by Design (CBD), the Canadian national approach to Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) for specialist residency. We will cover what CBD is, the rational for CBD’s implementation, and your role as a medical educator.
This module will take approximately 30-45 minutes to complete and is intended for faculty new to the CBD approach to feedback and assessment of Residents in specialty programs.
