Let’s get to know Carrie Zheng, Education Coordinator, Vancouver Fraser Medical Program Faculty Development!
What are your hobbies?
My hobbies tend to all be indoors! I enjoy creating things with my hands. A while back, I had an interest in making embroidery art for wall décor and illustrating (unpublished) children’s books. Currently, I’m learning (and slowly collecting components) to build my own PC. This will be one of my side projects during the Christmas break.
What is a place you want to explore or visit again?
If I got the opportunity to visit Honolulu (Hawaii) in the future, I would love to go snorkeling and swim (at a distance) with giant sea turtles again. They are such majestic creatures.
Please tell us your most memorable moment(s)
One of my most memorable moment was my first time surfing. On one of the beaches in Tofino was when I realized the amount of skill and energy surfing requires—other people make it look so easy!
Do you have a favorite quote, song or any thought of the day you would like to share with everyone?
One of my favourite quotes is from a renowned conductor: “To achieve great things, two things are needed: a plan and not quite enough time” ~Leonard Bernstein.
This quote particularly resonates with me because growing up, my mom would always tell us that we are all given the same amount of time each day—it’s the way we use our time that matters most.
