Tell us a bit about yourself

I am from Mexico and came to Vancouver to do a masters at UBC in Resources, Environment and Sustainability. My dream is to save the world and my plan is to help scientists become better science communicators so we can all fight the climate crisis. But first we need better training in science communication, which is why I called the current step of the plan: “Learn how doctors teach other doctors”. Then I’ll be able to help scientists get better at teaching communication skills to other young scientists.

What are your hobbies?

I love spending time with my dog, going to the cinema and eating a lot of popcorn, going to the gym and baking cakes for my family.

Do you have any secret talent(s)?

Recently, I finally managed do 10 chin ups! It took me over a year, so next goal will be 20, but I’m sure It’ll take forever.

Please tell us your most memorable moment(s)….

When I met my dog 12 years ago and I held him in my arms (and cried a little). I’ve wanted a dog since I was a kid and after 12 years I’m still grateful every day to have him in my life.
